Wataalamu wa Kijana wa Kiafrika wa 2017 (YYAS)

Julai 29, ya Yale Young Young Wataalam wa Kiafrika (YYAS) anaacha mfululizo wake wa vikao vitatu huko Accra, Ghana; Kigali, Rwanda; na Harare, Zimbabwe.

YYAS ni mpango wa kiwango kikubwa ambao huleta pamoja wanafunzi wa shule ya sekondari ya Afrika kwa ajili ya mpango wa makazi ya siku saba wa gharama isiyo ya gharama iliyoundwa kuanzisha wanafunzi kwa chuo kikuu cha Marekani kinachodai na mchakato wa maombi ya kifedha na mahitaji. YYAS majeshi mipango katika Ghana, Rwanda, na Zimbabwe na hivi karibuni kuwakaribisha wanafunzi 300 wa shule za sekondari katika mtandao wake wa kukua wa alumni.

"Mambo kadhaa hufanya mpango wa YYAS wa pekee na wa pekee, lakini mkuu kati yao ni asili ya Afrika na ukweli kwamba mpango huo ni bure kwa washiriki wote," alisema Laura Kaub, Meneja wa Programu ya YYAS. "Hii inafanya YYAS kupatikana kwa wanafunzi wenye uwezo mkubwa kutoka kote bara, bila kujali hali yao ya kiuchumi."

Inasimamiwa na Mpango wa Wavuti wa Kimataifa wa Yale and building off that model of interdisciplinary academic curriculum, YYAS participants attend lectures led by prominent Yale faculty, seminars developed by Yale student instructors, and experiential exercises designed to augment their leadership skills. Participants engage in robust intellectual exchanges that are crucial to understanding Africa’s most pressing challenges and opportunities.

Mbali na utangulizi wa mchakato wa maombi ya chuo kikuu, kozi za wanafunzi za Yale, na mafunzo ya uongozi, washiriki wa YYAS pia hupokea masomo ya maandalizi ya mtihani wa kawaida wakati wa programu, ambayo imeundwa hasa kwa watoa mtihani wa Afrika mpya kwa mitihani kama SAT.

Washiriki wote wa YYAS ni raia wa nchi ya Afrika kati ya miaka ya 14 - 18 na sasa wanahudhuria shule kwenye bara la Afrika. Kundi la mwaka huu linajumuisha wanafunzi kutoka zaidi ya mataifa mengine ya Kiafrika ambao huhudhuria shule za sekondari tofauti za 30.

Further support for the YYAS program comes from partnerships with youth and education access-focused organizations working in each host country. Ahaspora nchini Ghana, Imbuto Foundation nchini Rwanda, na Mambo ya Elimu in Zimbabwe run parallel Educators’ Conferences for teachers, headmasters, and advisors from African secondary schools in their regions. These conferences introduce the educators to university guidance strategies and resources so that they can offer support to all the students at their schools who may want to pursue tertiary education abroad. By equipping both students and educators with information about university access, the YYAS program hopes to magnify its ability to help and support students across all Africa.
